University School of Colorado Springs and
the Physics of Canyoneering
Canyoneering is the sport of hiking to the mouth of a canyon and using climbing techniques and rappelling to get to the exit. USCS has been taking canyoneering trips to Utah since 2006 with the principal, Jeff Cooper, leading the endeavors. Our adventure program consists of three adventure classes: Intro to Adventure, Adventure Leadership One, and Guide. Students from all three of these classes participated in this project in answering a few questions about canyoneering and showing how physics can be used in real world situations.
